Kaushambi Village Project
The Kaushambi Village will be a place for pilgrims and destitutes alike. A meditation centre will help to fund and facilitate the preservation of the historical site, and a village for local communities and destitute populations. The village will be a place for shelter, care and education releasing people from destitution into self-sufficiency and building a better future for them and the next generation. |
Women's Destitute Shelter
This government facility houses 100 destitute women, girls and their babies. Living conditions are unhygienic and severely cramped, lacking all necessary human care. Inmates cannot leave the secured facilities and are detained indefinitely. D. Foundation works for their release and rehabilitation into a secure future. |
Child labour and inmate release
There are many kinds of child labour in India. Poor families may be forced to sell their children into hard labour; other children take on jobs to help their family survive. D. Foundation works to free children from all kinds of labour into education while also supporting their families. |
Vocational training
Village women in India lack the means to support themselves and their families. Through skills and education, D-Foundation enables girls to be more self-sufficient and able to support their future families. |
Vocational Academy
Destitute girls and village girls and women have no access to education and are unable to acquire skills. D-Foundation has just built an academy where 250 women and girls will receive free training in recognised diploma courses thus opening up their life opportunities. |
Livelihoods & Jobs
Traditional skills and livelihoods are being lost through modernisation and mechanisation. D. Foundation is working to provide employment opportunities to the skilled – both those trained through D. Foundation programs and others with traditional know-how. |
Organic Agricultural & conservation
Many farmer families have fallen into debt from using genetically modified seeds; these are also a threat to local biodiversity. Facing starvation, a number of farmer families have committed suicide. D-Foundation works to ensure economic security for farmer families and the preservation of traditional ecologically friendly farming techniques. |
Outreach and direct assistance
Slum and street people live with little or no shelter, they have no access to water, care or even food. Many commit suicide, knowing there will be no improvement and survival is uncertain. D-Foundation provides emergency and long-term direct assistance as well as legal support to individuals and families. |
