Mohini is a young girl who belongs to the Gypsy caste in India. Her family have been living in Sarnath for a long time. Mohini attended school in the village and received excellent grades in many classes. However Monini has been forced to leave education due to poverty in the family. The reality in India is that the education of girls is of low importance. The main functions of females here are to reproduce and tend to the home. For this reason they are often treated as second class to men and suffer badly.
Mohini fell victim of this social injustice when she became seriously ill. She was suffering from appendix pain but because of money problems she was left untreated. She contracted a serious infection in her intestine and the problem became a real threat to her life. She could not find anyone to help her however until she came in contact with the D-Foundation. We sent her to the hospital immediately and she underwent surgery to save her life. Thankfully the operation was a success and she is dong well. She is still in hospital and we are providing for her needs. We would like to rehabilitate her and train her in computers which would help her future prospects. We hope we can help her to overcome her physical and mental pains and she can have a happy future.
