Awarding Government Certificates
We are very pleased to inform the friends of the D-Foundation that 146 girls from our vocational centres have been awarded government certificates. The girls have been trained in useful and practical skills through the D-Foundation vocational programs held in the slums around Sarnath & Varanasi. The skills include:
- Beautician training
- Sewing
- Weaving
- Soft-toys making
- Bag making
- Literacy program
- Meditation
- Health hygiene program
The girls who received the training are between the ages of 14 to 22 and their families are living below the poverty line. The courses train the girls the skills outlined above while also giving them practical information such as:
- How they can start their own business
- How they can get small loans / micro finance from banks
- How they can find work as teacher of the skills they learned with the D-Foundation and the certificates provided by the government
Furthermore, with the assistance of our psychologist & teachers, we made them aware of the basic problems faced in India such as
- Health & hygiene,
- Disadvantages of early marriage
- Benefits of literacy/ disadvantages and potential dangers for illiterate people.
- And more
We are very happy that our students now have these certificates and training. They now have a better chance of finding employment and improving the lives of themselves and their families.
